I never thought I’d be “that mum” who felt guilty about staying home with her kids.
But there I was. Age 32. Two beautiful children – Mia (5) and Oliver (3). Living in a small flat in London. And drowning in guilt every single day.
Not because I didn’t love being with my kids. I did. But we were barely surviving on my husband Tom’s £35,000 salary.
After rent (£1,400/month), bills, groceries, and essentials, we had maybe £150-£200 left. No savings. No emergency fund. One unexpected expense and we’d be in our overdraft.
“I felt trapped. I wanted to contribute financially, but childcare costs were £1,200/month. I’d basically be working just to pay for someone else to raise my kids. What was the point?”
The worst part? Tom was working himself to exhaustion. Leaving at 7 AM, coming home at 7 PM, collapsing on the sofa. He never complained, but I could see the stress on his face every time a bill arrived.
The Moment That Broke Me (And Changed Everything)
March 2025. Mia came home from school excited about swimming lessons. All her friends were signing up.
Cost: £48 per month.
We literally couldn’t afford it.
I had to look my 5-year-old in the eyes and say, “Maybe next term, sweetheart.”
She didn’t understand. She kept asking, “But why, Mummy? Ella’s going. Sophie’s going. Why can’t I?”
I cried in the bathroom for 20 minutes.
That night, after the kids were asleep, I told Tom I needed to find a way to earn money. He said we’d figure it out. But we both knew – traditional jobs weren’t an option. Not with childcare costs. Not when I wanted to be present for my kids’ childhood.
Scrolling Through My Phone While Oliver Napped… Then I Saw It
I started searching for “work from home for mums” and “earn money without childcare.” I looked at everything:
- MLM schemes – No thanks. I’m not pestering my friends on Facebook.
- Freelance writing – But how do I write when Oliver’s climbing on me?
- Virtual assistant work – Requires set hours. What about nap schedules?
- Selling on Etsy – Need to buy materials, make products, handle shipping…
Everything required either:
- Hours I didn’t have (with two young kids)
- Skills I’d need months to learn
- Upfront investment we couldn’t afford
- Customer service and phone calls (impossible with screaming toddlers)
Then, during Oliver’s afternoon nap, I found something completely different.
A fully automated travel website business. Already built. Already working. No phone calls. No customer service. No set hours.
Just share a link. Earn commissions when people book travel.
My first thought? “This sounds too good to be true. Probably a scam.”
But I kept reading… and something about it felt different.
Here’s what made me stop scrolling:
- £199 one-time payment. (Less than one month of childcare!)
- Work whenever YOU want – nap times, evenings, weekends
- No customer service. No phone calls. No dealing with people.
- Completely automated. Just share a link and earn.
- No tech skills required. If you can use WhatsApp, you can do this.
£199 Felt Like a Fortune… But I Was Desperate
I won’t lie. £199 was a HUGE amount for us. That was our “emergency fund” (what little we had).
I showed Tom the website during dinner. He was skeptical.
“Sarah, this sounds like one of those pyramid scheme things your cousin tried…”
But then I showed him the details. Real business. Real domain. Real commissions from actual travel bookings.
He sighed. “Look, if you think it’ll work… we can afford to lose £199 once. We can’t afford to stay in this situation forever.”
“What if this actually works? What if we could afford swimming lessons? What if I could contribute financially WITHOUT leaving the kids? £199 is worth finding out.”
I clicked “Buy Now” at 9:23 PM on March 15th, 2025.
My hands were shaking.
24 Hours Later, My New Business Was in My Inbox
The next afternoon (while Mia was at school and Oliver was napping), I received:
- Full ownership of my own travel website with a premium domain
- A completely automated booking system – already live and working
- Simple video training (I watched it during naptime)
- My own dashboard to track every single penny earned
The training was ridiculously simple. Basically: “Share your link. People book travel. You earn commission.”
That’s it.
Day 3: I posted my link in a UK Mums Facebook group. Someone asked if anyone knew where to find cheap flights to Malaga.
I shared my link. “Try this site – it scans everything!”
Day 4: I got an email notification. £31.20 commission earned.
I literally cried. Oliver was playing with his toys. I picked him up and spun him around. He had no idea why Mummy was crying happy tears.
That £31.20 meant more to me than any paycheck I’d ever earned. Because I earned it while being MUM. Not while someone else raised my kids.
Week 2: £127 total. (Mostly from mums groups and WhatsApp.)
Week 4: £418.
Month 2: £1,034.
Month 3: £1,847.
Today, 11 Months Later…
I’m earning £1,900-£2,400 per month in passive income.
Mia’s in swimming lessons. We took a family holiday to Cornwall. Tom’s stress levels have dropped dramatically. And I’m still home for every nap, every tantrum, every precious moment.
The best part? I work maybe 1-2 hours a day. Usually during nap time or after the kids are asleep.
I share my link in mums groups, local community pages, WhatsApp groups. That’s it.
No phone calls. No customer service. No one asking me questions I can’t answer.
I’m finally contributing financially without sacrificing time with my kids. That guilt? Gone.
